1996 PNE Prize Home
A Lindal Cedar Home was modified by Patrick
Simpson
to meet the specifications defined as "User Friendly".
The principals of Universal Design were applied to this "vacation home" to
include:
wider doors and hallways,
lowered light switches,
raised wall plugs, | |
receptacle in the bathroom for a "Toto Toilet",
varying heights of countertops in the kitchen,
zero threshold in the master shower upstairs,
a closet over a closet makes it possible to add an elevator later at minimal cost,
wider staircase allows for the addition of a future stairglider and
the recycled plastic carpet minimizes allergic reactions to off gassing fibres |
