Our Mission

It is a fact that people are living longer today.
Our "User Friendly Homes" are designed with that in mind. Our concepts allow people to maintain their dignity and independence while living more safely in their own homes. We tell you how to design and build a home which will provide you with all the conveniences necessary to achieve this goal.
We are working towards the establishment of a National Standards, Inspection and Certification program to improve Canadian housing.

About Patrick Simpson, Principal of User Friendly Homes

Patrick has worked his way through the housing industry as a builder, developer, realtor, design consultant, advisor, entrepreneur, and most recently,   patient.  He brought Adaptable Housing to British Columbia. And spearheaded the Smart House movement, envisioned & built Telosky Village, and supervised the Maple Ridge Demonstration House with CMHC. Patrick has been involved in various other public and/or private projects.

Speaking from twenty-two years of experience in the residential housing industry in British Columbia, Canada, Patrick brings home to us the concepts of 'User Friendly'.  It is a home grown, non-legislated version of practical, anticipatory planning, using to advantage, principles of common sense, and " if I were going
to live in this house I would do it this way " thinkin
g.

We believe you will learn and appreciate the guidelines Patrick has developed. Only through a concerted and comprehensive effort today are we going to be able to create and maintain appropriate housing for those of us who are living longer, are demanding more, and who are seeking to maintain our independence and dignity through the steadily lengthening last half of our lives.  excerpted from the forward in the book
