A Word About

PATRICK SIMPSON

Patrick Simpson has been actively involved in the housing and
consumer electronics industry for over twenty years. Dedicated to the
design and implementation of advanced technologies from manufacturing
to distribution, Patrick is recognized in the industry as an early pioneer of
home automation. Mr. Simpson has a strong background in real estate and
development, including market research, land assembly, project management,
design and marketing.

He has achieved many significant milestones over the course of his career. In 1987 Mr. Simpson designed and developed Telosky Village in Maple Ridge - a housing project recognized as one of the landmarks of innovative housing design. Featured in a design and technology symposium in Milan, Italy, the Telosky Village was considered one of the ten most advanced projects in the world.

The design of the Smart-Com house wide communication network in 1988 was the result of years of research and development in home electronics bus design. These new methods allowed consumers to install a residential wiring network, which met consumer demands for electrical product integration.

In 1992, Mr. Simpson created one of the first Home Automation Showrooms in North America as a showcase project for the general public in Vancouver. Soon after in Maple Ridge (1994), Patrick created the first "User Friendly Home" - a housing project co-sponsored by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) which showcased and demonstrated creative housing design technologies.

Most recently, Patrick Simpson has acted as the design and building consultant as well as builder for the 1996 PNE prize home. This home received national exposure and achieved the highest sales figures on lottery ticket sales in the history of the PNE.

Today, Patrick Simpson’s role in the daily operation of User Friendly Homes is that of owner and General Manager. He provides direction to the sales and marketing team, spearheads sponsor participation, supervises the construction of the home and ancillary projects and is the facilitator in the future development of national User Friendly Programs.

Patrick’s book USER FRIENDLY HOMES -- Building For Your Future was first published in April of 1998 and details the basic design concepts, covering every aspect room by room, from initial design criterion to electrical and lighting requirements.
